Humans have always been preoccupied with transporting goods and resources from one place of abundance to one of scarcity. Globalisation has allowed ware to travel across the globe and be seen, used and thrown away miles from where it was produced or found. In the same way it has allowed people, plants and animals to move and resettle in new environments. In many cases it has brought an inestimable richness; just as often though, it has caused misery, poverty and disease.
The exhibition will focus on those situations in which people find themselves removed from their native environment, either by choice, or by force, and what ways they find of coping. In the exhibition objects that often follow the same fate as people, will act as metaphors of displacement.
